Panteão dos Cabrais

Panteão dos Cabrais
Built in the 15th century, next to the St James Church, by Fernão Cabral, to whom king Afonso V had given the Castle of Belmonte, it would later lodge his own tomb and those of his wife, Lady Isabel Gouveia, and of his most illustrious son, Pedro Álvares Cabral, among other of his descendants.

The navigator´s tomb contains a double coffin of wood and lead with earth and his mortal remains, brought here on the 14th of March 1961 from the Grace Church, in Santarém.
