Old Cathedral
Old Cathedral
Sé Velha was started to build in the 15th century, but it was remodelled in the 18th century, such as many other buildings damaged by the 1755 earthquake.
It has a Gothic vestibule and remains of a Baroque façade, as well as a big ogival window; inside there are three naves where you can admire two big paintings, a Renaissance retable and marble tombstones.
The exterior is marked by the dark red colour of the sandstone used in this and in all other old buildings, a characteristic of Silves.
