Classified as a national monument, the Igreja de Santa Maria is extremely ancient and has only one nave.

On the exterior façade visitors can still observe what used to be a Romanesque doorway.

The altars are in carved wood and date from the end of the 18th century.

Its treasures include 16th-century paintings by Gregório Lopes.

The place is quite romantic, surrounded by the castle walls and gardens, and the church is often chosen for wedding cerimonies.

It stands within the fortified walls of the Torres Vedras Castle.
