Reopened in 2007, in its original design, this pioneering photographic studio was built for this purpose between 1871 and 1875.

The building presented, broadly speaking, a design that combined the gothic revival and its avatars, then consolidated under the new industrial architecture, with the ideia of the late-romantic chalet.

The main collection consists of approximately 12,000 photographic glass items and a few thousand positive proofs, big machinery and period furniture, as well as various certificates of awards received by Carlos Relvas.

Beyond this collection, there is also the personal library of Carlos Relvas, with some 4000 titles, covering particularly topics such as literature, art, agriculture and travel, and photographic bibliography of international value, as well as several catalogs.
