Mother Church

Largo da Imaculada Conceição - 2150-125 Golegã

Mother Church
Igreja Matriz, in the Manueline style, also known as Church of Our Lady of the Conception, is classified as a National Monument and was allegedly drafted by master Diogo Boitaca.

Dated from the 15th and 16th centuries, it was built by King Manuel I.

On the facade, there is a beautiful portal, richly decorated, and an elegant and stately bell tower.

The vast interior features 18th-century tiles about biblical themes.

The last restoration took place in 1998.
