The Clock Museum displays 1700 mechanical instruments, dating from the 17th century and including several wrist watches, grandfather clocks and pocket-watches, among others.
One of the rooms is dedicated to clocks made in Portugal and also hosts temporary thematic displays.
Lodged at the Mosteirinho Convent, a 16th-century building in the Manueline style, the Clock Museum occupies ten of the former monastery’s rooms, displaying floors of typical Alentejan tiles in contrast with the white-washed walls and vaults.
The Clock Museum also includes a small garden, a bar and a library with more than 500 thematic books.
