A small private museum, owned by the bank Millennium BCP, which reveals the archaeological treasures to be found under the Pombaline Baixa (downtown), displaying vestiges from different ages, but specially from the Roman times.
Another interesting feature of Núcleo Arqueológico da Rua dos Correeiros (NARC) is the chance to see the base of the «gaiola» (birdcage) structure invented by the 18th-century engineers to resist earthquakes such as the one that destroyed the city in 1755.
Visits have to be booked, within a limited schedule, for groups of up to 15 people.
