Igreja Matriz

Igreja Matriz
Little remains of the primitive Romanesque building dating from the 12th century, originally called Church of St Mary of the Door, as it was much altered over the ages.

The tympanum of the door on the northern side exhibits the figure of a wolf, according to some experts, and of a lion, according to others.

The wood retable displays the original coat of arms on the top.

The retable of the secondary chapel on the left, dating from the end of the 16th century, is an oil painting on wood by António Figueiroa.

The church exhibits another painting, the Adoration of the Magi, by the same artist.
