Of probable prehistoric origin and cut in the granitic rock, the Fonte do Ídolo is surrounded by devotional and cult symbols that date from the Roman occupation.

On the left side, it features a bearded human figure more than one metre (yard) tall, wearing a togue and carrying an unknown object.
