This example of the Roman architecture in Portugal is now installed at the Machado de Castro National Museum.

The cloister of the Church of St John of Almedina, next to the museum, dates from the same period.

Among many other findings from Roman times there is also a stele dating from 305 with an inscription that confirms the city was then known as Aeminium.
