New Cathedral
It began to be built in the 16th century and was concluded a century later, but it was the works in the 19th century that gave the cathedral its actual appearance.

Originally, both the church and the adjacent college were given to the Jesuits, who remained there until they were banned in 1759.

The characteristics of the Jesuit architecture, namely the sobriety of style, are quite visible.

The nave is barrel-vaulted, with a dome over the crossing.

The Baroque altarpiece has a retable in gilded wood-work.

The choir stalls in gilded wood-work from the 16th century and the paintings above them came from the Old Cathedral; the Manueline font to the left of the entrance was also brought from the Old Cathedral.

It is worth admiring the wind-screen, in carved wood, dating from the beginning of the 18th century.
