The ancient convent´s building now lodges the Municipal Library, the Historical Archive and the Municipal Gallery.

The door on the left of the main façade gives access to all.

The door on the right leads to the Crypt of St John of God and to the Mother Church, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries and with a beautiful façade which dominates the square it faces.

The crypt, totally restored, is an excellent site to discover the profound veneration of the local population towards the saint that was born in Montemor.

The church´s vault exhibits a fresco of extraordinary beauty.
