Presently lodging the Seminário Conciliar de São Pedro e São Paulo, the Seminário de Santiago was built for the education of the friars of the Society of Jesus, in the so called «Jesuit Baroque style».

One curiosity regarding this relatively recent building is the fact that remains of a Roman public construction have been found at the cloister.

The building lodges also two museums: the Museu Medina, with more than one hundred works from this extraordinary master, and the Museu Diocesano, which apart from a diverse collection of sacred art objets features a remarkable display of Romanesque and Visigoth capitals.
