St. Lawrence Chapel
At Almancil, a parish of the vast county of Loulé, you must not miss the beautiful Capela de São Lourenço, which by itself deserves stopping here.

Of Baroque architecture, its exterior is marked by panels of blue and white tiles which dominate all the decoration and make this chapel one of the most beautiful of the kind.

Lining the dome, the vault and the walls inside, these panels from the 18th century tell the story of St.

Lawrence in a harmonious assemblage.

The blue and white of the tiles also stand out at the main chapel, with an altar-piece in gilded wood-work.

The interior decoration is completed by beautiful paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Next to the chapel, the Cultural Center of São Lourenço is a known space for exhibitions, mainly of Portuguese artistas.
