Núcleo Museológico de Giões
Installed at a former elementary school, now abandoned, in the village of Farelos, it is one of the four museum sections spread through the county' s four parishes, which together try to ilustrate its history.

At Farelos, weaving is the main attraction, one the most important and ancient activities of the county.

The laborious techniques of spinning and weaving are represented here (a weaver' s loom stands on a corner of the room), as well as those of preparing the wool and producing thread.

The visitor can also admire pretty woollen quilts, in shades of bege and brown, as the weavers made the most of the material' s natural colour to elaborate the patterns.

The best place to obtain information about this or any other museum nucleus of the county is at the Casa dos Condes, in Alcoutim.
