Martinlongo Mother Church
Built on the site of an ancient Arab mosque of which the minaret was preserved and adapted to become the bell tower, Igreja Matriz attracts the attention of those who visit the village The Gothic portals are extremely simple.
Inside there is a triple nave separated by pointed arches.
The columns present Byzantine characteristics in their inverted pyramid shape, rarely seen in Portugal.
The main altarpiece and the altars of the side chapels have Renaissance retables, reconstructed in the 17th century.
Of the interesting set of features which complete the decoration it is worth admiring the sculpture of Our Lady of the Conception, from the 18th century, and the wall paintings from the 16th and 18th centuries.
At Martinlongo, it is also worth visiting the chapels of the Holy Spirit and of St.
Sebastian (16th century), and the chapel of Santa Justa, about 5 km away.
