Since 1996, the Art and Cultural Fair of Almodôvar is annually held at Campo das Eiras.

Besides the shows that for a week animate the fair, handicrafts and agricultural products of the region are the main attractions.

Various types of honey can be appreciated at the event, and it is also possible to taste the local firewater and eat hot bread cooked in wood ovens, together with delicous home-made cheese made from ewe or goat milk.

The display of the different arts and ancestral tasks is a fundamental part of the fair, adding colour and animation to the atmosphere: shoemakers, potters and weavers execute their crafts with great skill under the interested and curious gaze of visitors.

FACAL usually takes place at the end of May or the beginning of June, and is an important event for the town and the region of Almodôvar.

Besides illustrating traditional activities, the fair contributes to the local development as it attracts more visitors each year.
