Museu Municipal Severo Portela
Museu Municipal of Almodôvar is dedicated to the painter Severo Portela; although he was not from this town, he did much in favour of its cultural and artistic development.

The museum is situated near Praça da República, occupying the first floor of the Municipal Library building.

Besides the building itself, you can admire paintings, sculptures and drawings by Severo Portela, as well as books and other objects that belonged to the artist.

Other works by the painter can be seen at the Senhor do Calvário Chapel, outside the Miserichord Church, and at the baptismal chapel of the town´s Mother Church.

Inside the museum, a place of honour is given to the book containing the charter of Almodôvar, awarded by king Dinis in the 13th century.
