Igreja da Misericórdia
The beautiful Igreja da Misericórdia stands in the Praça da Républica.

The first sight to be contemplated is that of the chapel consecrated to Our Lady of the Calvary, inserted in the wall of the main façade; next to it, the doorway is framed by sculpted masonry with a triangular fronton at the top.

The church was built in the 18th century, having been restored later for several times and also quite recently.

Inside, it is worth admiring the gilded wood-work of the main altar and the wall paintings with very colourful floral motifs.

The walls and the paintings of the Senhor do Calvário Chapel were restored by the artist Severo Portela.
