Noudar

Noudar
It is at the former town of Noudar, at about 13 km from Barrancos, that we can discover its origins.

Successively occupied by the peoples that passed through the Iberian Peninsula over the centuries, the archaeological vestiges found in this area are valuable chronological elements, and we know it was inhabited since prehistoric times.

Still visible are the fortified walls, 7-metre high, which surrounded the town along 500 metres.

It is within this perimeter that we can admire some of the treasures associated with the history of Barrancos, such as the castle, the church and the "canhas", underground passages that lead from the castle to the surrounding streams.
