Machado de Castro National Museum
Installed at the former Bishop's Palace, its contents were originally formed by the belongings of closed religious houses in the Coimbra region and by the nucleus of the Antiques Museum of the Coimbra Institute, and later enriched by several legacies and donations, materials coming from restoring works made in the city and environs and findings derived from several archaeological excavations at the Criptoportico.

It includes collections of sculptures from the Roman period to the 20th century, jewelry from the 1st to the 20th centuries, paintings from the 15th to the 20th centuries, ceramics from the 16th to the 19th centuries, furniture from the 16th to the 20th centuries, textiles from the 16th to the 19th centuries and oriental collections.
