St. Francis Church
Next to Palácio da Bolsa (Stock Exchange Palace), the present church is what remains of an ancient monastery.

Its dazzling interior of gilded wood-work in pure Baroque style amazes visitors by its splendour.

A tour includes the catacombs, a singular place where the black tombs, identified by slabs where you can read the names of the families and personages buried here, contrast with the ghostly white of the walls.
