There are various references concerning the probable date in which this church was originally built, and very different centuries are pointed out.

It may date from the 13th century, although the 16th and 17th centuries are also mentioned.

Of quadrangular form, the Igreja Matriz presents only one of the original vaults.

On either sides, two towers surmounted by a pyramid-shaped pinnacles.

In the main chapel the visitor can admire valuable decorated tiles from the 18th century.
