Mother Church
Mother Church
Built in the 15th century and also known as St Salvador Church, it is an important element of the city´s patrimony.
Although it has only one nave, it is one of the largest Portuguese churches in its style.
The walls are about 2 metres thick and hold a plain vault.
In front of the main altar, the image of St Salvador, made with 17th-century tiles, is a valuable ornamental element.
