Arco da Vila
One of Faro´s ex-libris, the construction of Arco da Vila was ordered to the italian architect Francisco Xavier Fabri by bishop Francisco Gomes de Avelar, in the place where there had been before a medieval gate.

The arch marks the entrance to Vila Adentro (Inner Town), the city´s historic centre, and displays in a niche an image of St Thomas.

Out of curiosity, note the top of the building, where starks love to make their nests.
