St. Anthony Church

St. Anthony Church
Standing in Campo Mártires da Pátria, Igreja de Santo António was once part of a little Franciscan convent of which the cloister still exists.

Built in the 17th century, it is an interesting example of this period´s architecture.

Without having great religious art treasures, the church lodges an extremely interesting collection of ceramic figures in natural size (17th century), known as the "St Anthony´s Passing" and representing scenes from the saint´s life.

The altar piece is Baroque, and on the chapel´s vault various paintings ilustrate his miracles.
