Apples Beach

Apples Beach
The Praia das Maçãs owes its name to the fact that the river which flows into the sea was once surrounded by orchards, so that the apples, when they became too ripe, fell into the water and were swept until the beach.

Around the sandy stretch, there are various restaurants, cafés and bars, as well as shops selling local crafts, so that this is a favourite place for people coming from Sintra; there are esplanades and excellent food, both in Summer and Winter.

Near the beach, there is also a swimming-pool with sea water.
