Sintra Town Hall

Sintra Town Hall
The railroad arrival to the town of Sintra caused great changes in terms of urban development.

The quarter of Estefânia was born then, and it is between the "Old Town" and this new neighbourhood that the Town Hall´s magestic building was erected.

The monument´s architecture exhibits Neo-Manueline windows, a tower with battlements, a panel of ceramic tiles portraying the Cross of Christ and the Portuguese coat of arms; at the top, an armillary sphere can be seen.

The building stands at the entrance to the Volta do Duche, and is up to this date the seat of Sintra´s Town Hall.
