Fortress of Sagres

Fortress of Sagres
Fortaleza de Sagres still preserves its proud arrogance, having been built by order of king John the First´s son, Henry the Navigator, for defensive purposes.

Thus, its origin dates from the 15th century, although it has registered several changes since then.

Inside (and probably dating from the same century), a giant windrose, with a diameter of more than 40 m (131 ft), is outlined on the ground.
